Trip to Alishan Nature Center

In sunny day on Wednesday 7/25 we went to Chiayi by bus with Shuangliou Nature Center and aboriginal kids. We are going to visit Alishan nature center. The first time we arrived there, the teachers and staff welcoming us kindly. We were very attract with the Green-eco house that made from woods with modern touching.
在陽光燦爛的日子7/25日（星期三），我們與雙流自然教中心的老師和原住民孩子。乘車到嘉義參觀觸口自然中心。到達那裡，觸口自然教育中心老師和工作人員熱情歡迎我們。此時，我們被眼前這棟結合時尚與生態的綠色建築所吸引。

 

First activitiy, the kids stay in the class to get introducing of Alishan nature center. They were all enjoy this activity in the convenient and interesting design class. While we and the volunteers in Alishan go for a walk arounding location. We walked on the wood path, even today the sun was shine so bright and hot we were very enjoy the scenary in Alishan nature center. It location near highway but, when we come inside to the nature center feels like in village with natural trees, plants, and some kind of animal.

第一個活動，由觸口自然教育中心老師設計有趣的活動讓孩子們瞭解觸口自然教育中心。而我們與觸口的志工去散步了解環境，即使太陽如此的炙熱，走在木棧道，我們很享受觸口自然教育中心的風景，雖然中心靠近公路，但是，在自然中心裡面，感覺就像置身於山林的村莊中。

After that, we walked around with children to get interact with plants. The teacher from Alishan introduced some plants to the children. Look, how curious are they!

隨後，我們與孩子們聽由觸口自然教育中心的老失介紹植物給兒童認識，孩子們如此感到好奇！

After finished lunch box, we have DIY class. We made whistler from the seed fruit! I will show you steps are:

Day over, we said goodbye and huge thanks to Alishan nature center for giving learning and memorable activity we spent together :)

今天的活動即將結束，我們感謝觸口自然教育中心提供令人難忘的活動與學習。

Aboriginal children

Thanks of this day, which we spend with the aboriginal children in Alishan in Chiayi, we had a chance to know more about their behavior. When we took up children in their village I thought how they can live in this small village in the middle of mountains. What about their education? These children have small school in their village, where study children with different age categories. Maybe they can gain the basic knowledge there, but I think that they don’t have a big chance to get to university and even in high school.
感謝這一天，讓我們與原住民兒童一同在觸口互訪，讓我們有機會了解他們的行為。當我們去村莊接大孩子時，我認為他們住在山上小村莊。教育品質較差‧這些兒童在他們村落中有小型學校，提供不同年級的學生讀書。也許他們能獲得基本的知識，但我認為他們不太有機會去讀大學，甚至讀高中。

During the day we had a lot of activities for them I knew that these children are interested about nature and animals and they are very able to make a handmade work.
They are like children everywhere so they have a lot of energy, they need to play the games and do something during the day. I think that they need more exercises and trips like was this trip to Alishan.
經過一整天與小孩子參予活動相處中，我知道，這些孩子對自然和動物感興趣，他們非常有能力去完成手工製品。
他們和世界各地的兒童一樣，他們精力旺盛，也需要到玩遊戲及做一些東西。我認為，他們需要更多的練習和旅行就像這次觸口自然教育中心之旅。

In my opinion their parents and mainly government should do something for them for example secure the school bus, which can take children from village to and from the school in the bigger city.
在我看來，他們的父母和政府應該多作一些事，例如為他們做點什麼，校車安全，可以載他們從村落和學校到大城市。

Wonderful Kenting

We had a opportunity to visit one of the most beautiful Forest Recreation Area of Taiwan this week. We started our two days trip on Friday in the afternoon. Uncle Rou took us around Kenting National Park. Kenting National Park is situated on The Henghun Peninsula which is the site of Taiwan’ s first national park. It is a popular tourist destination. In this area we could see mountain and ocean scenery. The most famous places in this area are for example Eluanbi, Mobitou, Mt. Dajian, Longpan or South Bay. In the evening I was so tired, but we slept in the Kenting dormitory, where we spent our evening time to sing the songs from karaoke.
本週我們有機會參觀台灣其中一個最美麗的森林遊樂區。上週五的下午，我們開始我們兩天的行程。羅大哥帶我們參觀墾丁國家公園。墾丁國家公園位於恆春半島，是台灣第一個國家公園。這是一個熱門的旅遊景點。在這方面，我們可以看到山景和海景。在這最有名的地方，例如鵝鑾鼻、貓鼻頭、大尖山、龍蟠或南灣。到了傍晚，我實在太累了，晚上睡在墾丁宿舍，在那裡我們也歡唱了卡拉ok。

The next day we spent in Kenting National Forest Recreation Area, where our guide prepared tour around Area. Kenting National Forest Area is home to the island’ s largest tropical botanical garden. Before hundreds of thousands of years, this area consisted of underwater coral reefs. This makes this area very interested and charming. We can find a landscape with limestone caves, cliffs, canyons and stalagmites and other geological peculiarities. This location is famed for tropical monsoon forests, wildlife, insects and jutting coral reefs. Among the attractions of nature belongs SianTung. SianTung is 137 meter-long cave is the longest coral fissure in Taiwan. The cave is also interesting because of unusually shaped stalactites, wall patterns, which may remain for example the shape of man and other images.

第二天，我們的導遊帶我們到了墾丁國家森林遊樂區。它是島上最大的熱帶植物園。在數百千百年來之前，這個區域包括了水下的珊瑚礁。這使得這個地方非常有趣和迷人。我們可以找到一個景觀與石灰岩洞穴、峭壁、峽谷和石筍和其他地質特點。這個位置是著名的熱帶季雨林，野生動物、昆蟲和突出的珊瑚礁。其中自然景點仙洞。 仙洞137米長的洞穴，是台灣最長的珊瑚礁岩縫裡。這個洞穴是有趣的，因為形狀怪異的鐘乳石，牆上的圖案，代表人與其他圖像的形狀。

 People can take a rest in Sea Viewing Tower. They can combine the lunch with the amazing view of all Kenting. We can see on one side ocean with Orchid Island and on second side forest and mountains - the most famous is Mt. Dajian.

人們可以在觀海樓上好好休息。他們將午餐和墾丁的美景結合。我們可以看到一側海洋蘭嶼，在第二側的森林和山脈 - 最有名的是大尖山。

Kenting National Forest Recreation Area is unique and amazing.墾丁國家森林遊樂區的風景是獨特和迷人的。

Aborigin Day

We had a chance to see something special from Taiwan. We visited Taiwan Indigenous Peoples Culture Park. This is museum about Aborigin culture, where we can gain more knowledge about this culture and grasp the tradition and the way how they live. We can find here a lot of kinds of section, which is showed us the houses where they live, their traditional song, dance, clothes and tools.

People can also see the video about this museum – how and why the museum built, what everything people can visit there and more.

我們終於有機會欣賞到台灣比較特別的東西，我們參觀了台灣原住民文化園區。在這座展示關於原住民文化的場域中，我們可以得到更多的原住民文化的知識及了解他們的傳統生活方式。在園區內劃分了幾個區塊，展示了他們居住的房子；傳統歌曲；舞蹈；服裝和工具等。

人們還可以看到關於這個博物館的影片 - 內容介紹為何要建造這個園區，使遊客可以更深入的瞭解原住民文化的歷史。

The first time in Cultural Park, they will welcome the tourists with bamboo firecracker performance. It used for deter the invasion during war time and to get rid of sparrows for agriculture. People will get shock from this heavy noise but you’ll feel the beautiful welcoming for you.

剛剛近到文化園區，他們用砲竹來歡迎參觀的遊客。這種方式在早期用於戰爭或是農民為了防止鳥類入侵農作物而使用，從低沉的砲聲中，讓參與的人感到震撼，而且遊客會感受到被熱烈歡迎的感覺。

We started our destination in Naluwan Section, where we can wacth the show of traditional singing and dances. The round-shaped Naluwan Theatre was built in 1996 with an area of nearly 2000 square meters for indoor performances. Visitors may go to the theatre by tour bus. The gate of the theatre is decorated with large and colorful Indigenous wooden carvings, which looks mysterious and primitive. 2000 visitors can appreciate the good singing voices and elegant dancing od aborigines. The main part of the show was singing and dancing of the culture which is called Amis. The Amis is the largest aboriginal tribe in Taiwan. Through many migrations, the Amis now live primarily in eastern Taiwan, especially in the east rift valley and part of the Hengchun peninsula, spanning the counties of Hualien, Taitung and Pingtung.  Most of the Amis dwell in the plains and are very much influenced by the Chinese culture. Enthusiastic about singing, the Amis sing in ceremonies, feasts,  a reunion with  faraway friends and even at work or while cooking. As a result, their folk  songs are rich in many forms. Having a great influence upon other aboriginal and pop music, the Amis music was heard around the globe at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, where the Amis couple of Difang-Duana vaulted to worldwide fame by their singing of Welcome Song“. Therefore, the Amis music has become an important cultural asset in Taiwan. Further, we can saw the traditional clothes others aboriginal culture from all Taiwan for example The Puyuma, The Paiwan, The Yami or The Truku.
在那魯灣劇場，我們欣賞了原住民傳統的歌舞，那魯灣圓形室內劇場約有2,000平方呎的表演台，從1996年起遊客便可以搭乘園區巴士抵達劇場，劇場的大門使用色彩繽紛的大型木雕裝置，看起來粗獷中帶點神秘，場內可容納2,000人觀賞精采的歌舞秀，這裡的表演主要在呈現阿美族的傳統文化歌舞，它是台灣最大的原住民族群，經過多次遷徙，現在的阿美族主要居住於台灣東部花東縱谷地區，遍及花蓮、台東和屏東，大部分的阿美族人居住在平原，受到漢民族文化深刻的影響。
阿美族人擅長唱歌，他們在節慶中、筵席中與遠方的朋友聚會時都會歡唱，他們甚至在工作或烹飪時亦惠大聲歌唱，他們的音樂內涵多元，對其他原住民有深刻的影響，阿美族的音樂在1996年雅典奧運的開場表演中，由一對夫婦表演歡迎歌曲而獲得世界廣大的迴響。從此，阿美族的音樂在台灣獲得一席之地。在這裡我們也看到了台灣其他原住民族，如排灣、雅美的傳統服飾及文化展現。

 

 

 

We just spent the rest time to visit Paiwan tribe and we can see directly how they make beautiful handicrafts like some kind of balls that has meanings in every made such as: Health, happiness, good harvest, and another lucky things.
我們就連休假時也再次到原住民文化園區參訪，在這裡，還看到他們製作一些手工藝品，像一些象徵健康、快樂、豐收等幸運手環。

 

Then we were in Octagonal Exhibition House, where we saw for example grave, the traditional clothes, which grandmother made for children and the the porcelain vase, which is used like a gift for bridegroom or bride. The last thing what we saw was how the aborigin people make the glass beads.

There also Handicraft street to buy special handmade from aborigin peoples.

我們還走到了八角形的展示屋，裡面陳列著墓碑的樣式、傳統服飾以及新郎或新娘送給對方的瓷瓶，而且也看到原住民朋友在製做琉璃珠。另外，還有一條手工藝品街，可以購買一些原住民的手工藝品。

New knowledges in Shuangliou

　This 2^nd week in Shuangliou was so great, besides class lessons on Monday until Wednesday, we were going to Mt. Maozi and Banyan trail on Saturday on Sunday. On Monday we had a class in Nature Center start from 9AM, the teacher (Rainbow) shared about the history of Shuangliou and Nature Center. It’s good to know that Shuangliou already exists for 75 years, but it just open as recreational area in 1998. The Nature Center itself has establish in July, 4 2009.

　在雙流的兩個禮拜真是美好，除了星期一到星期三的訓練課程，我們打算在禮拜六、日去走帽子山步道和白榕步道。禮拜一從上午9點開始自然教育中心安排了彩虹姐姐(老師)分享有關雙流國家森林遊樂區和自然教育中心的歷史。非常開心知道這個國家森林已經存在了75年，但它的遊樂區在1998年才開幕。而自然教育中心則在2009年七月成立。

      

　Nature Center established as the Forestry Bureau’s program to introducing forest and ecological life to people, so they can get closer to nature. I think it such brilliant, especially this program has a school camp for children age 5 – 17 years old. Beside that, Nature Center has a program to facilitate graduate student, course for teacher and proffesor, disable people, volunteers, and children. Rainbow told about the history of Shuangliou, as we remember that Shuangliou as the 2nd most beautiful waterfall in Taiwan so we have high recommended that people must visit Shuangliou.

   自然教育中心在林務局的計劃下成立，目的在介紹森林和生態給民眾，讓他們可以更接近大自然。尤其自然教育中心是為5 - 17歲的學童舉辦環境教育營隊，我認為這是明智之舉。此外，自然教育中心針對研究生、老師、教授、殘障人士、志工和兒童有定有特別企劃。彩虹姐姐告訴我們雙流是泉台灣的第二個最美麗的瀑布(陰離子含量第二高)，所以，我們極力建議民眾，有空應該到雙流走走。

Then, here are the outdoor class. We walked to the forest via Mountainside Bridge trail with Nature Center teacher called (nature name) Bamboo and Rainbow. There are lots animal we found such as lizards, kind of insects, the baby of frog, spiders, worm and we take smell of beautiful flower Lily, take a look at Oak, try to eat Fern’s leaf and medical fruit that has no taste. After that we went to the river and find some aquatic animals like crab, shrimp, mayflies, and dragonflies (Baetiella bispinosa, Cardina weberi, Geothelpusa albugilva, and Gibosia lucida). At the end of outdoor class we played a toy made from bamboo, we just know that bamboo is very useful for food, toy, furniture and some kind of accessories. We also learnt about Lollypop Tree that can be use for raincoat at the past.
當我們與自然教育中心的竹君老師和彩虹姐姐走在沿山步道進行戶外課程時，我們發現這裡有很多的動物，如蜥蜴、青蛙、蝌蚪、蜘蛛等，同時我們也聞到了美麗的百合花的香味；看到了白千層並嘗試蕨類的嫩葉。之後，我們來到河邊，找到一些水生動物如蟹，蝦，水蠆和蜻蜓。在課程的最後，我們練習了用竹子製成的玩具，我們了解到，竹子的用途非常廣，除了竹筍可以當食物，還能製作玩具、家具和一些用品讓。我們還了解到山棕，在以前用來作成簑衣(雨衣)。

Next day on Tuesday we had class again about diversity of birds taught by uncle Yu Yang. There are many kind of birds in Shuangliou such as: Black Bulbul, Hodgson Hawk Eagle, Ostrich, Tree Spallow, Tree Sparrow, Muller’s Barbet, Cinnamon Sparrow, Japanesee White Eye, Chinese Bulbul, Osprey, and Hummingbird. On Wednesday, our class learn CPR is about first life help to baby/children and people. In the afternoon we had a practice with plastic doll. We also imagine the situation about accident and other volunteers must help us, we were act like swollen ankle, broken leg, head attack and some another kind of injury.

第二天，我們有一堂由余楊老師傳授有關雙流鳥類的課程，在雙流有許多種鳥類。像大冠鷲、紅嘴黑鵯、五色鳥、小白鷺、台灣藍鵲、白頭翁等等。星期三，我們學習了心肺復甦術。下午，我們實際用安妮娃娃操作練習，另外，我們學習傷患包紮，練習意外事件發生，如扭傷、骨折、頭部及其他種類受傷時，志工應如何協助傷患包紮。

First Help to Baby

Wow, Saturday and Sunday as the greatest of this week. We went to Mount Maozi trail on Sunday. Mt. Maozi is the highest in Shuangliou and rises 700 meters above the sea level. The total length to reach the top is 2.800 meters and we need about 2 hours. After reach the top of the mountain we can see the breathtaking scenary that we can’t explain well by words. Another great was on Sunday went to Banyan trail, it was so adventurous because the forest so natural. We feels like a Tarzan in the jungle while walked to this trail.

 

哇！終於到了禮拜六和禮拜天，這是這禮拜以來最棒的兩天了。星期日我們去走帽子山步道，帽子山是雙流最高的山，海拔有700米，到達山頂總長度約2千800公尺長，需要走2個小時左右。在到達山頂後，可以欣賞到壯麗的風景，連綿的山巒起伏，美到難以用文字形容。另一件很棒的事情是，上個禮拜天去白榕步道，我們把自己當成是泰山，走在這條天然的步道上。

The teachers and volunteers started to prepare some activities and games for tourists due to Nature Center in Shuangliou’s anniversary few days ago. We had a celebration on July 7th where the Director of Pingtung Forest Office and all volunteers came to this amazing celebration. There was a post card’s booth in this venue and people invited should write as birthday wishes to Nature Center in Shuangliou.

7月7日是雙流自然教育中心三週年的紀念日，屏東林區管理處的同仁、自然教育中心的老師及森林志工們為遊客準備了一連串的活動及遊戲來慶祝，其中有許多有趣的攤位，邀請遊客在明信片上寫下對雙流的生日祝福。

There were a lots of attraction from the group of Aborigin’s children. They danced in their traditional clothes, we had a chance to know more about their culture. Then The group of Hakka’s children had shows for us with Taiwan’s special instrument like drum, flute, etc. At the end of their performance, they prepared something special musical show which had drama story inside.

有一個吸引我的客家團體表演，他們穿著客家傳統服裝跳舞，讓我們有機會欣賞他們的民俗表演。表演團體展現了台灣特別的樂器，期中有鼓和笛子等等。表演的壓軸節目，是精彩的民間傳統戲劇。

    In this recreation area, there are lots of activities we can do besides enjoying the trail. At holiday there will be a school camp in Nature Center for children age 5 – 15 years old. They will learn more about forest and animal especially in Shuangliou. Children will enjoy this school camp because in Nature Center we learn indoor and practice the knowledge in outdoor. The facilities in Nature Center is quite good, a lots of colourful book, convenient class, some species observation, and tools for outdoor activities.

        在遊樂區內，我們常常享受在步道間活動，假日時，自然教育中心會有一個為5到15歲兒童所舉辦的營隊。讓這些小朋友學習更多有關森林和動物的知識，小朋友們除了享受學校舉辦的營隊，還能在自然教育中心學習到許多戶外知識。自然中心的設施相當不錯，有很多豐富的生態書籍；寬敞舒適的教室；種子的觀察盒和戶外活動的裝備等等。

My name is Petra and I`m from Czech republic. I`m working in Pingtung county in Shuangliou National Forest Recreation Area as volunteer. I`m really happy that I can work here because It is good opportunity how to know more information about forest, people in Taiwan and their style of life. I can gain new skills and new experience here.
我的名字是Petra，來自捷克共和國。今年暑假到台灣屏東縣的雙流國家森林遊樂區擔任志工。我真的很高興，可以在這裡工作，因為這是很好的機會，能夠獲得更多有關森林的信息，了解台灣人的生活習俗，我一定可以在這裡學到許多新的知識和寶貴經驗。

 

Here I am now in Shuangliou National Forest Recreation Area in the Southern of Taiwan. My name is Zita Setyaningrum from Indonesia. I joined in Taiwan Volunteer Forestry Bureau 2012 and I would like to work in Pingtung Forest district office for 2 months. I’d like to use this chance to know more about forest and how to manage from the conservation into restraint the forest. From this program I also can explore Taiwan’s culture, food, places and it’s attract me a lot to come here.

我的名字是Zita，來自印尼。現在在雙流國家森林遊樂區，它位於台灣南部。我在2012年參加了台灣林務局2個月的暑期志工計畫，並選擇在屏東雙流國家森林遊樂區服務。我想利用這個機會了解更多的有關森林的經營與保育。從這個志工活動，我可以探索台灣這地方的文化和美食，這是吸引我來這裡的主要原因。
